I bought off-brand ink cartridges for my HP printer. It makes a clacking noise when printing. Is this reason?
Bought cheap cartridges for HP 612c printer. Not only was ink color poor, but cart. trays began to bang against R side of printer behind on/off button. Guy said my gears were just shot. I cleaned inside with a brush-it stopped!
Try using professional grade ink cartridges, and see if it rattles around, still. If not, then it was just the ink you installed. If it DOES keep rattling around, though, then the gears might be damaged.
This is just a little side note, but you may find it helpful. Replacing an entire printer is sometimes WAY cheaper than replacing ink. If you get the printer at a decent price (watch the ads in the paper, as Fry’s usually slashes printer prices DRAMATICALLY sometimes), you may find that it’s actually cheaper to replace the entire printer than the ink.
